VCI Treatment Eliminates Bagging & Wrapping
RustBan™105,
a VCI (Vapor Corrosion Inhibitor) treatment for primary packaging,
can eliminate the material and handling costs associated with placing
corrosible products into treated bags, or wrapping corrosible products
with treated paper. There’s no need to wrap them in a VCI paper
or insert them into a VCI bag, eliminating a step in your manufacturing/packaging
operation.
Laboratory testing has shown RUSTBAN™-treated corrugated packaging to be as effective as VCI paper and VCI flexible packaging. RUSTBAN™105 is nitrite-free and fully repulpable/recyclable. RUSTBAN™105’s service life is up to two years under normal storage conditions. For maximum performance, treated paper should be stretch-wrapped after the application of RUSTBAN™105.
Types
of Treated Packages
Corrugated, solid fiber and other forms of paperboard packaging
can all be treated with RUSTBAN™105 at the converting level.
RUSTBAN™105 is gluable with a wide variety of coldset and hotmelt
adhesives. Partitions, slip sheets and other specialty paperboard
products can be produced with RUSTBAN™ applied to both sides.
Application
Methods
RUSTBAN™105 can be applied with blade or rod coaters, either
inline while corrugated board is being manufactured, or offline
to linerboard which will later be converted into a VCI container.
RUSTBAN™105 can also be applied to any substrate for which
the appropriate application technology and drying are available
(e.g., a PressROD™ applicator on a gravure press). Typical
applications will be in the 3.5–5.0 wet pound/MSF range.
