Why are Color Coatings useful?
Colors make it practical to use commonly-available kraft linerboard for decorative jobs that would otherwise require special linerboard grades or weaker, non-kraft paper. The ability to change the color of kraft paper on-the-fly means a marked reduction in rollstock inventory and greatly-increased response times to customer special orders. By coating kraft with a color coating, the need to purchase carloads of white paper is eliminated, making it practical to satisfy more customers at reduced cost.
